Position Overview
As a pivotal leader in our operations, you will be at the forefront of managing our Kootenay region's natural gas infrastructure. Your extensive hands-on experience in construction, combined with your in-depth knowledge of safety protocols, will ensure that both your team and the assets under your supervision are safeguarded.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a dedicated team of unionized personnel to fulfill daily operational requirements and project commitments.
- Utilize relevant software tools to effectively schedule and manage deliverables, ensuring adherence to timelines and budget constraints.
- Collaborate with internal resources to maintain optimal staffing levels.
- Oversee contracted services, ensuring compliance with established agreements.
- Engage in an inclusive recruitment process to interview and select new team members.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to enhance team performance and facilitate ongoing training and development.
- Apply your field expertise to resolve operational challenges and collaborate with others as necessary.
- Conduct site visits to ensure quality oversight and compliance with industry standards and service agreements.
- Foster a safe and inclusive work environment for your team and all stakeholders.
- Implement safety procedures, including site-specific work planning and the provision of necessary safety equipment.
- Participate in incident investigations to promote a culture of safety.
- Manage budgets and third-party contracts with a focus on financial oversight.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, and emergency response teams.
- Champion a safety-first culture to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Collaborate with peers to develop strategic initiatives aimed at operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years of management experience, particularly in natural gas infrastructure, with a post-secondary diploma being an asset.
- Experience in construction, underground utilities, and emergency response is advantageous.
- A strong commitment to safety and quality in operational practices.
- A collaborative approach to fostering workplace connections.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
