Social Worker

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Worker to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a Social Worker in our Inpatient Units, you will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to provide a wide range of clinical services to individuals, including:
- Screening and assessment
- Individual counseling and treatment planning
- Discharge planning and crisis intervention
- Group programming and case management/navigation
- Consultation and collaboration with healthcare teams
You will need to be knowledgeable and highly skilled in the utilization of harm reduction, recovery models, and the psychosocial rehabilitation model (PSR). A strong understanding of community resources and programs, as well as community development methods, is also essential.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work (NSCSW). You will have a minimum of two years' experience in a clinical setting, preferably working with individuals with substance use/gambling concerns and/or mental health. A high degree of proficiency in screening and risk assessment skills, including suicide risk assessment, is also required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships
- Knowledge of social determinants of health and its importance to decision formulation
- Experience with trauma-informed care approach and recovery-oriented practice
A working knowledge of the DSM and experience in utilizing screening and triaging tools is also an asset. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are also an asset.
HoursThis is a casual relief position, and you will be required to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
Compensation and IncentivesThe hourly rate for this position is $33.97 - $42.68.
