Position Overview

The Rural Vehicle Damage Estimator plays a crucial role in assessing damages to various vehicle types. This position involves conducting evaluations at service centers and remotely visiting repair facilities, tow truck yards, and other relevant locations. The estimator will meticulously inspect vehicle damages and provide comprehensive repair cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections of vehicles at service and claim centers, as well as satellite estimating sites. Confirm damages and prepare detailed damage estimates utilizing an automated estimating system, adhering to established estimating standards and OEM repair guidelines.
  • Organize and execute road call estimates to maintain a high standard of service for customers and repair facilities.
  • Evaluate supplements and initial estimates submitted by repair facilities for accuracy; authorize additional repairs in line with estimating standards and OEM procedures.
  • Assess Direct Repair submissions and corresponding supplements and photographs for accuracy, approving further repairs as necessary.
  • Review and authorize initial estimates and supplements from repair facilities for claims related to mouse infestations, off-road vehicles, recreational vehicles (RVs), and motorcycles.
  • Process claims submitted through the virtual claims file (VCF) system.
  • Prepare initial estimates for commercial vehicles.
  • Determine the repairability of vehicles or if they are deemed total losses.
  • Review completed repairs by facilities and authorize additional work as needed.
  • Complete necessary documentation to support claim decisions, investigations, and potential legal actions.
Qualifications
  • Journeyperson Certificate (Red Seal) or a Certificate of Qualification in Motor Vehicle Body Repair, Automotive Service Technician, or Truck and Transport Mechanic.
  • A minimum of seven years of hands-on experience in autobody repair, including at least one year in a customer service role.

OR

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of ten years of hands-on experience in autobody repair, including at least one year in a customer service role.
  • Achieved Platinum status in Estimator or Auto Physical Damage Appraiser role within the I-CAR Gold Class Professionals Designation program, or a commitment to obtain and maintain this designation.
