About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Product Development team at PML Sound International. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in creating innovative mechanical designs for our consumer electronics products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Development: Define the look and feel of new products, creating designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and manufacturable.
  • Design Optimization: Optimize internal product layout for best mechanical and thermal performance, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and user experience.
  • Vendor Management: Qualify vendors and manage vendors through the part RFQ process, ensuring that we work with the best suppliers to bring our products to market.
  • Engineering Samples: Validate engineering samples receivables, ensuring that our products meet the required specifications and standards.
  • Project Management: Participate in project management activities, including writing requirements and specifications documents, parts and subsystems validation protocols, and working with the project manager to define the scope of work, decompose and create estimations for tasks and deliverables.
  • Team Leadership: Assign tasks and evaluate the work of junior members of the mechanical team, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
About You
  • Experience: You have experience designing consumer electronics and/or power electronics products, with a strong understanding of mechanical design principles and practices.
  • Education: You hold a degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design, or an equivalent field.
  • Skills: You are an expert in Solidworks, with knowledge of advanced Solidworks Pro/Premium features, including cable routing, wire harness design, advanced surface flattening, static analysis, and tolerance stack-up analysis. You are also a DFMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) guru, with experience in thermal/heat transfer analysis through FEA and experimentation.
  • Methodology: You have a methodological approach to work, with the ability to define and build prototypes, plan experiments, and analyze results to resolve ambiguities.
  • Communication: You are a strong communicator, with the ability to produce quality, readable drawings for production and quality control, and to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
