About the Cloud Application Team:
The Cloud Application team at dbt Labs is responsible for the development and maintenance of dbt Cloud, our flagship offering. Our work encompasses a wide range of technologies, including scalable backend systems, modern frontend client code, robust APIs, and user management systems. We are in the process of building a growth strategy and are seeking a motivated Lead Software Engineer to join our Growth team.

As a Lead Engineer, you will address challenges as they arise, with project specifics varying from developing customer features to enhancing APIs and implementing comprehensive systems. Key Responsibilities:
- Function as a Full Stack Engineer, executing growth strategies and experiments aimed at boosting user acquisition, engagement, and retention.
- Advocate for industry best practices to ensure the scalability, maintenance, and ownership of services throughout their lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with customers and product managers to gain insights and expand opportunities to innovate within the modern data stack.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering.
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., computer science, computer engineering) or completion of an engineering-related bootcamp.
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
- Experience with products that utilize product-led growth or self-service growth strategies.
- A pragmatic engineer with a proactive, strategic mindset, capable of working across the full technology stack to enhance product offerings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fully remote, distributed team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience driving growth through targeted changes with measurable outcomes.
- Familiarity with data tools and experience in the data space.
- Experience with modern data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Spark, Presto).
- Prior experience with dbt in analytics engineering.
- Comfort in discussing and reasoning about best practices in dbt project development.
