Pediatric Pulmonary Function Specialist

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Pulmonary Function tests as per the standards set by the Diagnostic Accreditation program.
- Ensure the diagnostic equipment is properly calibrated and functioning before initiating patient assessments using calibration syringes and gas analysis techniques.
- Execute specialized pediatric pulmonary diagnostic evaluations, including Membrane Testing and Impulse Oscillometry.
- Monitor patients' conditions to guarantee safety and optimal performance during testing procedures.
- Analyze patient responses throughout testing and therapeutic interventions; meticulously document findings in patient records.
- Provide educational sessions and demonstrations on procedures to students, healthcare professionals, and other team members, covering topics such as medication administration and pulmonary function testing protocols.
- Support the maintenance of quality assurance and infection control standards through specialized testing, documentation, and participation in quality control meetings.
- Carry out routine calibration, upkeep, and sanitation of equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care examination.
- Eligibility for membership with the British Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT) and the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT).
- Current certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.
- At least one year of recent pediatric Pulmonary Function Diagnostic experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.

- Familiarity with all equipment pertinent to the role.
- Physical capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
- Dedication to fostering reconciliation efforts in Canada, aligned with TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
- Awareness of the social, economic, and historical contexts affecting Indigenous communities, along with knowledge of Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism initiatives.
