Role Overview
The Transportation Architecture Principal will be responsible for the strategic vision, leadership, and financial success of the Transportation Architecture practice in Western Canada. We are looking for a seasoned leader focused on driving growth and profitability within the practice. Candidates with substantial experience in transport agency building design and project management, particularly in Aviation, Transit (all modes), and Transit-Oriented Development, will be highly regarded. The ideal candidate will have a strong reputation demonstrated through design awards, publications, and positive client feedback.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural program and support project development across Ontario, focusing on strategic planning and business development.
- Guide initial design concepts from pursuit through to successful project completion, particularly for complex projects.
- Enhance HDR's market presence in transportation architecture while contributing to the firm's overall reputation.
- Collaborate with Transportation business group leadership and Market Sector Leaders to build relationships with target clients and pursue new projects.
- Oversee office personnel activities, including implementing annual plans, marketing strategies, and financial management.
- Establish and maintain architectural office policies and quality control processes.
- Lead and manage project teams as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in Transportation and Architecture.
- Professional license with the AIBC.
- Strong knowledge of current trends and experience with large, complex projects.
- Proficient in CAD platforms, BIM, and visualization tools.
- Experience with MS Office applications.
- Proven track record in supporting practice growth and winning project pursuits.
- Sustainable Design experience and LEED credentials are preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and writing skills.
