About the Role

LHR Américas is seeking a highly skilled Harbor Pilot to join our team in a key role that requires expertise in vessel traffic management, maritime operations, and safety protocols. As a Harbor Pilot, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vessels in and out of our terminals, while also maintaining compliance with industry regulations and best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safe Vessel Operations: Conduct thorough safety inspections of all vessels before berthing or loading, and direct deep-loaded vessels to a safe anchorage as needed.
  • Vessel Traffic Management: Develop and maintain a record of selected characteristics of all vessels handled, and maintain radio communications with vessels in the operating area to expedite ship movement and optimize scheduling.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate ship/pier-related oil pollution incidents and prepare detailed reports to identify areas for improvement.
  • Logistics and Coordination: Maintain a permanent official log of vessels handled, and develop and maintain a record of selected characteristics of all vessels handled.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Collaborate with senior harbor pilots, pier personnel, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless vessel operations and resolve any issues that may arise.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Science from a recognized and approved Maritime Studies College, with at least 5 years of experience in harbor pilotage or seagoing experience.
  • Training and Certifications: Tanker Safety Course-Basic training in Oil/Chem/Gas, Helicopter and Underwater Escape Training Course, and other relevant certifications.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of maritime regulations and best practices, excellent communication and teamwork skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
