Position Overview

The role involves providing advanced electrical engineering expertise to power generation facilities and various clients. The key responsibilities include:

  1. Delivering electrical power distribution design and analysis for operational nuclear and industrial facilities.
  2. Conducting condition evaluations of electrical apparatus such as transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, electric motors, motor control centers, generators, and additional power plant machinery.
  3. Creating life cycle strategies, encompassing inspection and testing protocols.
  4. Executing engineering change design and analysis in accordance with established Engineering Change Control protocols.
  5. Performing electrical assessments, equipment safeguarding, and selection of cables and electrical devices.
  6. Identifying and evaluating client challenges to propose suitable solutions.
  7. Overseeing projects and serving as the design team leader when necessary.
  8. Collaborating effectively with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects.
  9. Keeping abreast of advancements within your area of expertise.
  10. Frequent travel to client locations is required.
  11. Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Instrumentation & Control Engineering.
  2. Over 10 years of experience in electrical design engineering.
  3. Demonstrated success in electrical design and analysis related to electrical power distribution, particularly in nuclear facilities.
  4. Comprehensive understanding of generating station power enhancements, including essential system protection and stability measures.
  5. Experience in conducting condition evaluations of electrical apparatus including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, electric motors, motor control centers, generators, and other power plant equipment.
  6. Thorough knowledge of applicable codes and standards relevant to nuclear and conventional plants.
  7. Experience in project management and coordinating activities among multidisciplinary teams.
  8. Understanding of life cycle management for electrical equipment.
  9. Familiarity with stringent engineering change control processes and the application of quality assurance programs.
  10. Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal, with a strong commitment to quality.
  11. Proficient problem-solving capabilities.
  12. Experience in leading technical projects to successful outcomes.
  13. Solid understanding of nuclear power plant design and operations.
  14. Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO) designation or eligibility for PEO status, with a strong passion for engineering.
  15. Innovative, enthusiastic, and eager to contribute to a dynamic team environment.
  16. Experience with nuclear power plant systems and processes is advantageous.
  17. Security clearance from OPG and Bruce Power is a plus.
