The Critical Care Nursing Resource Team at MGH is an innovative initiative designed to provide essential support to the Emergency Department, Cardiac Care Unit, and Intensive Care Unit.

This role is tailored for Registered Nurses (RNs) eager to advance their careers and deepen their expertise in a nurturing environment. As part of the Critical Care Nursing Resource Team, RNs will have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge in various critical care settings within the hospital. MGH is committed to fostering the growth of RNs interested in becoming Critical Care certified, offering mentorship and support to help novice nurses develop the necessary skills and training for independent practice in critical care environments. This position is ideal for both new graduates looking to launch their careers and experienced nurses seeking professional development in critical care.

Educational Requirements

- Current Certificate of Registration as a Registered Nurse from the CNO.
- Ongoing professional development in line with current nursing practices.
- Recent experience in medical-surgical nursing is advantageous.
- Additional training or education in Critical Care is a plus.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is beneficial.
- Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification is an asset.

Qualifications

- Preferred one year of experience in an acute medical or surgical care setting.
- Proven ability to provide care for patients with fundamental care needs.
- Willingness to engage in critical care training programs.
- Strong motivation to pursue educational advancement.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, leadership, and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a skilled interdisciplinary team.
- Competence in implementing care plans, including both independent and collaborative nursing functions.
- Participation in unit quality improvement initiatives is expected.
- Understanding of accountability-based practices is essential.
- Strong communication skills and a good attendance record are required.
- Flexibility to work across various areas of the Medicine Health Service, considering skills and abilities.
- All employees are expected to adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario and contribute to a culture of safety for patients and staff.
