Job Title: Heritage Permit Officer

We are a traditional community with a strong cultural heritage. Our community is built on the principles of our ancestors, and we strive to preserve our cultural traditions for future generations.

Job Summary:

The Heritage Permit Officer is responsible for ensuring the respectful management of our cultural heritage resources. This includes overseeing the review, response, and issuance of permits related to our cultural heritage.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and respond to permit applications related to our cultural heritage
  • Issue permits for cultural heritage-related activities
  • Track permit requirements and obligation fulfillment
  • Review and provide feedback on draft permit reports
  • Schedule and coordinate archaeological field technicians
  • Invoice for field technician services
  • Work with the broader team to update heritage policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with the GIS department to maintain a spatial database of permitted work
Requirements:
  • Archeology degree and/or CRM experience preferred
  • Computer literacy required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Cultural competency and knowledge of our cultural traditions an asset
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Driver's license not required but an asset
  • Successful criminal record check
