Job Title: Director of Indirect Sourcing and Procurement

Pharmascience Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Indirect Sourcing and Procurement to lead and manage all sourcing and procurement activities for non-product related goods and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of procurement professionals to optimize procurement processes, drive cost reductions, and ensure compliance with financial and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop category strategies to optimize cost, improve service levels, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze market trends and industry best practices to drive innovation and efficiency in procurement processes.
  • Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities, process improvements, and value-creation initiatives through robust category management and strategic sourcing.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure best-in-class service and optimal contract terms.
  • Conduct supplier performance evaluations and implement continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to drive quality, innovation, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage supplier negotiations, contracts, and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure compliance, risk mitigation, and financial savings.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand business needs, align procurement activities, and ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Work with finance to align procurement activities with company budgets and cost reduction goals, ensuring that all indirect spend aligns with financial strategies.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to ensure that all contracts comply with legal and regulatory requirements, managing risk and mitigating potential liabilities.
  • Oversee the procurement process for indirect categories, ensuring timely and efficient execution of purchase orders and contracts.
  • Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and control.
  • Ensure procurement activities align with the company's financial objectives, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Track and report key procurement metrics (e.g., cost savings, procurement cycle time, supplier performance) to measure performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage risks related to supplier relationships, contracts, and procurement processes, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g., data privacy laws).
Requirements:
  • Fluent in French and English (oral and written) given the interactions with external suppliers located outside of the province.
  • Strong contract negotiation skills, with the ability to secure favorable terms while managing risk.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to conduct detailed spend analysis, identify cost-saving opportunities, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and present procurement strategies to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Familiarity with relevant procurement regulations and industry standards, particularly within the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Strong focus on achieving measurable results in cost savings, process efficiency, and supplier performance.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex procurement challenges, including managing supplier risks and navigating regulatory requirements.
  • A strong team player who can collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders to align procurement activities with business goals.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in indirect procurement or sourcing, ideally in a pharmaceutical, healthcare, or highly regulated industry.
  • Proven experience in managing indirect categories such as IT, professional services, facilities, and production supplies.
  • Strong experience in supplier relationship management, including contract negotiations, performance evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in leading process improvement projects.
