Pharmacy Technician Role

Permanent Part-Time Opportunity

Reporting to the Pharmacy Services Manager, the registered Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in executing technical responsibilities associated with medication distribution within the healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Efficiently managing medication distribution to patient care areas, utilizing advanced automated dispensing systems and central pharmacy technologies.

• Conducting thorough medication history assessments with patients to support medication reconciliation processes.

• Preparing unit dose and compounded medications in strict adherence to NAPRA standards.

• Addressing patient and staff inquiries and directing them to the appropriate departments.

• Handling the issuance and delivery of narcotics and controlled substances to designated patient care areas.

• Maintaining the medication inventory control system and accurate records in compliance with pharmacy regulations and established protocols.

• Assisting Clinical Pharmacists as necessary.

• Performing additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) as a Pharmacy Technician.

• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician diploma from an accredited institution (or an equivalent combination of education and experience if licensed through the OCP bridging program).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in unit dose and sterile compounding is advantageous.

• Previous relevant experience in a healthcare environment is a plus.

• Familiarity with pharmacy automation systems is beneficial.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
