Lead Electrical Engineer for Water Systems

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Water group in British Columbia. This role will focus on supporting our municipal water infrastructure initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a technical consultant for team members.
- Provide expert technical contributions to studies and designs, including:
- Conduct load calculations and utilize modeling software for sizing electrical components such as transformers, generators, and switchgear.
- Develop electrical studies using specialized software (ETAP and/or EasyPower) and perform analyses including power flow, short circuit, and harmonic analysis.
- Deliver EI&C engineering tasks for municipal projects, particularly in Western Canada.
- Design and create contract specifications, studies, and reports for electrical systems, including grounding, lighting, and low-tension systems.
- Specify process instrumentation and control devices for various applications.
- Prepare construction cost estimates and technical effort assessments for projects.
- Lead electrical discipline efforts on small to mid-scale water and wastewater projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Leads, and Process Engineers to coordinate project deliverables.
- Support project management and field reviews for ongoing construction projects.
- Contribute to the development of engineering budgets and schedules.
- Adhere to AECOM's design and specification standards while accommodating client requirements.
- Ensure the accuracy and quality of technical documentation in line with AECOM's QA/QC procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 8 years of relevant experience in the water/wastewater industry and engineering design.
- Professional registration in Canada (EGBC preferred).
- Experience in electrical design and commissioning, particularly in distribution systems and control systems.
- Proven ability to produce tender documents, including P&IDs and electrical diagrams.
- Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Code and relevant safety standards.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in the water/wastewater sector.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other design tools.
- Experience with Metro Vancouver engineering standards.
