About the Role
As a Property and Casualty Intermediate Underwriter within our Commercial Lines department, you'll play a vital role in building relationships with brokers and growing a profitable book of business. You'll leverage your exceptional customer service and sales skills to make sound business decisions while analyzing and selecting risks in property and/or liability insurance.
What You'll Do
- Assess, evaluate, and negotiate on moderate to complex risks.
- Apply effective pricing and underwriting strategies in accordance with company guidelines and your personal underwriting authority limits.
- Quote, negotiate, sell, and authorize the acceptance of new business, renewals, and endorsements to develop and retain profitable business according to departmental goals.
- Participate in broker visits, industry functions, and marketing events to foster strong relationships with brokers.
- Provide technical advice, coaching, and mentorship to team members.
- Utilize computer systems for policy inquiry, electronic filing, underwriting, and rating transactions.
What You Bring to the Table
- Minimum 3+ years of commercial insurance experience.
- A proven track record of developing, mentoring, and coaching teammates.
- The ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with brokers and colleagues.
- A sales-focused approach with confidence when negotiating and communicating with brokers.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
- A problem-solving mindset and the capacity to recommend solutions for increased work efficiency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the ability to navigate multiple systems in a fast-paced environment.
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is preferred.
