About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety and Asset Protection Specialist to join our team at Tolko Industries. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our employees and assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective safety programs and procedures to minimize risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement risk management strategies and mitigation plans.
  • Provide training and coaching to employees on safety procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory requirements to ensure our organization remains compliant and competitive.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in an occupational health and safety discipline or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or working towards one is an asset.
  • 3-5 years of occupational health and safety experience, preferably in the forest industry or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience leading a small team and stakeholder engagement with internal and external parties.
  • Working knowledge of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and the Workers Compensation Act.
  • Ability to apply Health and Safety Management System concepts and excellent communication, active listening, and presentation skills.
  • Team player with the ability to work with and through others at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and root cause identification skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
