Job Summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled and experienced driver to join our team as an Environmental Services Driver. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely operating a variety of industrial trucks and units, including combination units, power vacuum units, hydro excavation units, box trucks, roll-off bin units, high-pressure water blasters, and tractor trailers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, ensuring safe practices and compliance with applicable Acts and regulations.
  • Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and load, ensuring safety and roadworthiness.
  • Comply with applicable legislation, including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, customs and immigration, and weights and dimensions.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed.
  • Check vehicles before driving them to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Record and maintain required documentation, including driver logbook, bills of lading, manifests, etc.
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure.
  • Deliver products and provide proper paperwork to customers in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Provide feedback to supervision regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems.
Requirements
  • AZ or DZ driver's license with a clean Driver's and CVOR abstract.
  • Ability to work an irregular work schedule, including extended hours and variable shifts.
  • Ability to work in a confined space environment and/or at heights.
  • Mechanical knowledge.
