Position Overview

The Integration & Application Development Manager leverages extensive knowledge of technical solutions, application development, and integration tools to fulfill business requirements while enhancing the synergy between business processes and information technology. The incumbent will possess both technical and functional expertise across various integration domains spanning multiple business subprocesses. This role is accountable for identifying solutions, designing integrations, and ensuring alignment with business needs and IT architecture standards. Additionally, the individual will drive process enhancements by collaborating internally with IT and business partners. This position acts as the primary technical manager for all projects and research related to their area of expertise. For most projects, the incumbent may also serve as the IT Project Manager. This role primarily focuses on identifying solutions to address current and future business requirements while potentially overseeing the work of others. As a subject matter expert, providing technical coaching and fostering peer development is a vital aspect of this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, design, and manage the solutions architecture for Application Development, Application-to-Application, and Business-to-Business integration, utilizing Enterprise Service Bus, API Management platforms, Data Virtualization technology, and SAP's Business Technology Platform alongside other modern SAP technology offerings.
  • Establish and align global application development and integration standards, principles, and best practices to optimize the solutions utilized within McCormick.
  • Act as the functional leader between Business and Technical teams regarding application development and integrations across various applications and technology projects, defining systems scope and objectives in relation to business needs and project requirements while applying industry best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and appropriately challenge solutions to enhance performance, minimize complexity, and reduce Total Cost of Ownership.
  • May serve as a team lead, maintaining oversight of allocated project budgets to ensure compliance with expense and capital allocations. Under general supervision, this position may plan and direct the work of both employees and contractors in the development and/or support of moderate to complex systems applications.
  • Engage with external shared groups to gain insights into emerging trends and potential applications of new tools and techniques.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Lead the Integration Architecture Governance Board, facilitating the review and approval of upcoming architectural change proposals submitted by various teams.
  • Coordinate with Systems Integration vendor partner teams for the delivery of application development and integration work items outlined in the scope for each deployment release.
  • Participate in the Technical Integration Leadership team, reviewing group priorities and identifying necessary actions for each workstream to achieve those priorities and objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Application Managed Service partner for the transition of Application Development and Integration objects at the conclusion of the Stabilization phase, ensuring an effective knowledge transition plan is established between the project team and the AMS team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree; alternatively, 10 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar architectural role, with exposure to multiple system platforms.
  • Experience with integration in a complex enterprise-wide SAP S4 ecosystem landscape, including multiple on-premise and cloud-hosted applications, along with a working knowledge of SAP's Business Technology Platform.
  • Strong awareness of Enterprise Service Bus, API management platforms, and Data Virtualization technology.
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of core business functions and their implications concerning system integrations and application development practices.
  • Proven experience in architecting solutions for application development and integrations within an SAP enterprise landscape, including cloud applications.
  • Exhibited skills in effective project management throughout the project lifecycle, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.
  • In-depth technical and functional knowledge of more than one business area through project participation and experience. High-level understanding of multiple business functions and the ability to assess the impact of requested changes. Awareness of industry trends, with practical steps taken to maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies.
  • Comprehension of the relationship between technical development and the organization's strategy. May manage the project budgeting process, including tracking costs associated with actions and decisions.
  • Ability to cultivate effective working relationships.
  • Strong communication and diplomacy skills are necessary to guide, influence, and persuade customers and third parties regarding the preferred course of action.
  • Solid organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, with the capability to convey information to business stakeholders and across various levels, including senior executives. Acts as a mentor and coach within the team and across IT, proactively sharing knowledge.
  • Regularly interacts with peers to directors, presenting to and engaging with function heads and steering committees. Conducts the role in a professional manner, fostering effective working relationships.
  • Proven ability and aptitude to analyze complex problems and deliver solutions promptly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture framework certification.
  • SAP certification.
  • PMP certification.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Proficient in Enterprise Service Bus and Data Virtualization. Experience in CPG or FMCG sectors.
