We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager to be a part of our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in fostering a culture of safety and compliance across our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction in health, safety, and environmental practices across all regional sites.
- Supervise and mentor regional HSE personnel to ensure effective support and compliance.
- Develop and implement corporate HSE initiatives that align with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Conduct thorough site inspections and audits to assess compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Lead incident investigations and audits of subcontractor safety management systems, preparing detailed reports and recommendations.
- Manage the implementation of the Certificate of Recognition Program (COR) within the region.
- Communicate HSE achievements and areas for improvement to regional management.
- Oversee WorkSafe BC compensation claims and modified duty programs.
- Ensure that emergency response plans are established and compliant with all relevant regulations.
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives at the regional level.
- Stay informed on industry trends and best practices in health, safety, and environmental management.
- Facilitate the management review process of the HSE Management System.
- Manage third-party pre-qualification systems and assist operations with pre-qualifications.
- Conduct training sessions and develop training programs for staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:
- A degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Studies is preferred.
- Certifications such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC), or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) are advantageous.
- Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) is a plus.
Work Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in HSE roles within relevant industries.
- Experience in a unionized environment is beneficial.
Skills and Abilities:
- Willingness to travel to various sites as required.
- Ability to cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Familiarity with HSE software programs is an asset.
- Capability to facilitate training and present to groups.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations at federal, provincial, and local levels.
- Must successfully pass a Criminal Background check.
- A valid Class 5 (or higher) BC Driver's License is required.
The anticipated salary range for this position is between $110,000 and $135,000, based on qualifications and experience. This role is part of a comprehensive rewards package that may include benefits such as vehicle allowance, insurance, pension plans, performance bonuses, and career development opportunities.
