Brandt Developments is seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Manager to oversee our engineering initiatives. This role entails the comprehensive design and validation of civil engineering projects, along with the preparation of essential documentation such as reports, estimates, and contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and approve civil engineering projects, including grading, stormwater management, underground utilities, and surface enhancements, in compliance with provincial and municipal regulations.
- Develop detailed designs and specifications for civil components across various projects, ensuring adherence to engineering standards.
- Lead and mentor the civil design team throughout project lifecycles.
- Provide internal guidance on landscaping or collaborate with external landscape architects as necessary.
- Evaluate preliminary civil layouts and engineering alternatives during the planning phase of developments.
- Coordinate with sub-consultants for planning, legal surveys, geotechnical assessments, and other consultancy services.
- Prepare cost estimates, tender documents, and engineering reports.
- Conduct conceptual and detailed design calculations, layouts, sketches, and specifications that align with Brandt's objectives and industry best practices.
- Investigate field and design challenges, producing comprehensive reports.
- Perform engineering analyses and establish testing protocols, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Implement and uphold quality control measures, reviewing and enhancing engineering designs and specifications.
- Engage with clients, authorities, and contractors to ensure project alignment.
- Monitor project costs and schedules as required.
- Provide expert advice on technical and civil project aspects.
- Conduct site inspections during construction phases, addressing and resolving project-related issues.
- Administer contract duties, including attending meetings, reviewing submissions, and preparing site inspection reports.
- Commit to continuous improvement while mentoring and supporting interdisciplinary project teams.
- Collaborate with internal design departments (e.g., Architecture, Interior Design, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical) to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Possess knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) and relevant civil engineering codes and standards.
- Undertake additional related responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Expertise in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a consulting environment is preferred.
- A degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
- Must hold a Professional Engineer license in Saskatchewan.
- Experience in site surveying is advantageous.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and technologists.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
Required Experience:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
- 5+ years of experience in a consulting office is preferred.
- A degree in Civil Engineering is essential.
- Professional Engineer licensure in Saskatchewan is required.
- Site surveying knowledge and experience is beneficial.
- Ability to work on various projects and collaborate with a team of professionals.
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a positive, driven approach to work.
