Job Opportunity: Assistant Professor Teaching Stream Faculty Position

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a probationary appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) at the University of Waterloo.

About the Position

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in mathematics, computer science, or a related discipline, and will have teaching experience at the post-secondary or secondary level. They will also have experience working with Indigenous students in Canada or experience with Indigenization in mathematics and/or computing education.

The ideal candidate will be First Nations, Métis, or Inuk with lived experience of Indigenous worldviews, cultures, and values, and strong ties to First Nations, Métis, and/or Inuit communities.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching mathematics and/or computer science to undergraduate students
  • Leading the CEMC's efforts to support the Indigenization of mathematics and/or computing education in K to 12 schools across Canada
  • Liaising with the Faculty of Mathematics Equity Officer, University's Office of Indigenous Relations, and Indigenous Knowledges and Anti-Racism unit
  • Participating in the CEMC's activities, including student and teacher workshops, development of online resources, and contest preparation and administration
Requirements
  • Master's degree in mathematics, computer science, or a related discipline
  • Teaching experience at the post-secondary or secondary level
  • Experience working with Indigenous students in Canada or experience with Indigenization in mathematics and/or computing education
