Service Operations Leader

The Service Operations Leader is accountable to the VP of Service and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient daily functioning of the service department. This position supervises and directs a team of Lead Hands and Service Mechanics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Address customer inquiries and issues as necessary, representing Magnum with professionalism and respect.
  • Collaborate closely with the service leadership team on matters related to customer service and staffing:
    • Performance evaluations
    • Work scheduling
    • Training and development
    • Technical assistance, etc.
  • Organize and prioritize workload within the shop to meet and surpass customer expectations.
  • Oversee the overall organization of the shop on a daily basis, which includes but is not limited to:
    • Scheduling service tasks
    • Equipment movement
    • Work assignments for staff
    • Cleaning and organizing tools and equipment
  • Provide support for service writing and parts ordering/issuing as needed.
  • Execute administrative tasks including but not limited to:
    • Employee time-off requests
    • Payroll and labor adjustments
    • Shift summaries and communication logs, which include shift notes, customer updates, parts order statuses, etc.
    • Safety reporting.
  • Deliver first aid coverage as required (following successful completion of level 2 certification).
  • Supervise maintenance operations and ensure timely reporting of equipment malfunctions or deficiencies.
  • Prioritize safety as the foremost concern and ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiencies, throughput, and quality of workmanship.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of HD/CT Program from an accredited educational institution OR:
  • 5-10 years of experience in a service shop or trucking industry.
  • Technical expertise and understanding of heavy equipment and service repairs.
  • Experience in team leadership.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Visual preferred).
