Role Overview:

The Mortgage Broker Relations Executive is tasked with expanding the residential mortgage sector by managing a specific portfolio of Mortgage Brokers. Focusing on the SMA customer segmentation model, the role emphasizes the cultivation and enhancement of relationships with Achiever brokers, ensuring they receive exceptional service, including underwriting support. Additionally, this position aids the bank in achieving its objectives regarding cross-selling various banking products to mortgage clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recognize the importance of the Bank's risk appetite and culture in daily operations and decision-making.
  • Strive for operational efficiency in alignment with Scotiabank's core values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while ensuring robust business controls are in place to meet operational, compliance, and conduct risk obligations.
  • Promote a high-performance atmosphere and contribute to an inclusive workplace.

1. Business Development: Within a designated area, drive the growth of profitable residential mortgages through strategic business development by:

  • Managing existing relationships within a portfolio of Achiever Mortgage Brokers to ensure the Bank is recognized for delivering superior service.
  • Attracting new business by identifying and engaging successful mortgage brokers not currently affiliated with the bank.
  • Conducting presentations and follow-up communications with key brokers to strengthen and establish relationships, supporting the bank's growth objectives.
  • Gaining comprehensive knowledge of mortgage products and procedures to effectively promote offerings to brokers and their clients.
  • Understanding the Bank's retail products to facilitate cross-selling opportunities through mortgage brokers.
  • Keeping abreast of real estate market trends and competitive developments.
  • Representing the Bank at industry events and meetings.

2. Relationship Management: Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with the broker portfolio to enhance mortgage referrals, focusing on:

  • Regular communication with brokers based on performance expectations.
  • Gathering current information to optimize relationship management.
  • Customizing service and sales activities to meet the specific needs of Achiever Brokers.
  • Providing tools and resources to assist brokers in client interactions.
  • Improving broker knowledge of products and processes to enhance relationship efficiency.
  • Monitoring broker performance for continuous improvement.

3. Underwriting Support: Contribute to the efficient processing and approval of mortgage applications by:

  • Communicating Bank lending policies to brokers to ensure understanding of requirements.
  • Collecting and verifying necessary credit information to meet Bank standards.
  • Reviewing and correcting data submitted by brokers and making informed decisions on applications.
  • Issuing commitments and following up as necessary.
  • Coordinating with Mortgage Insurers for loan approvals.
  • Ensuring all relevant documentation is received before submission to the Mortgage Funding Department.

4. Customer Acquisition and Cross-Selling: Facilitate customer acquisition and cross-sell opportunities by:

  • Ensuring brokers are familiar with the Bank's cross-sell initiatives.
  • Conducting meetings with brokers to promote collaboration with Scotiabank branches.

5. Customer Service Excellence: Deliver high standards of customer service and satisfaction by:

  • Ensuring prompt, accurate, and courteous service to mortgage brokers.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of Bank and customer information.
  • Adhering to the Bank's Privacy Code and Business Conduct Guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in residential mortgage underwriting.
  • Knowledge of the mortgage broker industry.
  • Expertise in Bank mortgage products and related policies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of the real estate market and competitive landscape.
  • Knowledge of mortgage-related products and broker compensation.

Working Conditions:

The role will be conducted remotely, requiring a dedicated workspace free from distractions. Communication in English and French is essential to serve a diverse clientele.
