Job Title: Assistant ECE

We are seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as an Assistant ECE at the Carleton Memorial Daycare Center Inc. This is a permanent position, working 30 to 37.5 hours per week.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. This includes leading activities, engaging children in play, and guiding them in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.

Responsibilities:
  • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers
  • Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs
  • Lead activities, such as telling stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
  • Encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
  • Engage children in activities, such as preparing crafts and discussing progress and problems at staff meetings
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • Establish guidelines for behavior and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers
Requirements:
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field
  • Food allergy and anaphylaxis training, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate
  • Immunization records and a Vulnerable Sector Check
Work Environment:

This is a physically demanding role, requiring a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling. Manual dexterity is also required.
