Job Summary:

Brookfield Asset Management is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Accountant to join our team in Downtown Toronto. As a key member of our Corporate team, you will be responsible for maintaining the accounting records within Brookfield's corporate operations and working with various internal stakeholders and teams to identify and implement key improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Executing the monthly financial close process of various subsidiaries and entities, identifying opportunities to implement practical changes to drive improvements and efficiencies;
  • Assisting in various analyses for internal management reporting and regulatory requirements;
  • Collaborating regularly with operating business groups and various Brookfield departments to reconcile intercompany transactions;
  • Continuously looking for efficiency in our processes, tools, and reports and making suggestions to implement these into our framework;
  • Assisting in special projects as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive work experience in an accounting or auditing function;
  • In the process of pursuing CPA designation;
  • Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel skills;
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills, and the willingness to always support the team;
  • Highly organized and able to work in a dynamic, complex, and fast-paced environment, as well as adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics would be an asset.
