Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Services Manager to join our dynamic team at the Sudbury Catholic District School Board. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for providing senior administration with financial and strategic advice on all aspects of financial management, reporting, and related issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide financial and strategic advice to senior administration on all aspects of financial management, reporting, and related issues.
  • Develop and implement financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to ensure the Board's financial goals are met.
  • Manage and analyze financial data, including resource allocation and allocation decisions, budget forecasts, and financial planning.
  • Provide interpretation, advice, and recommendations on the application of legislation, regulations, ministerial directives, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement corporate accounting, reporting, internal control, and risk assessments for the organization.
  • Prepare and analyze resource planning and allocations, consolidating financial plans and submissions.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to address and resolve issues related to the submission and approval of the Board's financial requirements.
Requirements
  • University degree in a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting designation and/or a Master's in a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of recent, work-related experience in finance, with two years in a progressively responsible supervisory role.
  • Recent experience creating and managing operating and capital budgets.
  • Experience in a school board setting and knowledge of the Education Act and Regulations is considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of analytical and problem-solving methods, as well as cost/benefit and risk analysis techniques and practices.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Excel and data manipulation and analysis, as well as the ability to communicate information effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of the theories and principles of financial and management accounting, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and accounting concepts and practices.
  • Knowledge of the financial control and accounting systems of the Board and the ability to retrieve information in a timely and accurate manner to facilitate the financial reporting requirements of management.
  • Knowledge of the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Board, as well as the organizational structure, operational plan, relationships, and roles within the organization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to demonstrate and explain general and complex accounting theories, policies, and practices.
  • Ability to respond in a reasonable manner to inquiries from other departments, various ministries, and the public.
  • Ability to conduct training and information sessions for management, employees, and new staff.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to provide accurate and timely information while managing multiple conflicting deadlines.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle, as occasional travel to schools within the Board's jurisdiction may be required.
  • The annual salary range for this position is $105,524.00 to $131,917.00 with a comprehensive benefit package.
