About the RoleWe're looking for an experienced technical research leader to drive Research and Development (R&D) outcomes with partner institutions, creating scalable solutions for nature-based climate action. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Science and collaborate closely with our Data Scientist and Geospatial and Field Technology Lead to transform R&D into Applied Science Products.
Key Responsibilities- Manage R&D Projects: Lead the R&D function for key areas of impact and risk assessment, ensuring our platform incorporates the most scientifically robust approaches.
- Ensure Timely Project Delivery: Manage project operations and ensure efficient project delivery through effective collaboration with research institutions.
- Partner with Research Institutions: Develop Proof of Concept models to be scaled by our team, and provide technical support to partners through geospatial expertise and modelling guidance.
- Shape Veritree's Nature Technology Roadmap: Ensure ongoing research is situated within the latest dMRV trends, and conduct gap analysis on our offering to identify opportunities for R&D and collaboration.
- Professional Experience: 5+ years of relevant professional experience in a highly collaborative team environment.
- Education: MSc in Environmental Engineering, Applied Science, Remote Sensing, or other related technical fields. PhD is an asset.
- Technical Skills: Technical experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis, statistics, and data science. Experience with Python or R is preferred.
- Leadership Skills: Experience leading technical teams and data scientists to produce innovative outputs.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention-to-detail.
- Continuous Improvement: Embraces a continuous improvement mindset and is resourceful with capital.
