Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is on the lookout for dedicated Registered Nurses to enhance our Apheresis unit at a leading healthcare facility.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct therapeutic hemapheresis, bone marrow/stem cell apheresis, and blood cell reductions either independently or collaboratively.
  • Engage with donors to assess their understanding of the donation process.
  • Deliver nursing care, guidance, and education to patients and their families.
  • Work in partnership with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Exhibit leadership in nursing practices and patient care.
  • Uphold clinical expertise and stay informed about blood component production.
  • Take part in hospital committees and contribute to research initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Must be a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • A minimum of two years' nursing experience, particularly in Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant or clinical apheresis settings.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • In-depth understanding of nursing principles and BCCNM standards.
  • Competence in nursing practice for patients with leukaemia or those undergoing bone marrow transplants.
  • Expertise in administering blood products safely and effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with donors, patients, and healthcare teams.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications.
