The Role:
We are in search of a Software Engineering Manager to become a vital part of our Information Technology Team.
Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, the Software Engineering Manager collaborates closely with other Technology Leaders to eliminate systemic organizational barriers while providing leadership, skill development opportunities, and coaching to Team Leads, as well as Front-End, Full-Stack, and Cloud Engineers under their guidance.
This position will oversee the Software Engineering processes and roadmap, ensuring visibility and addressing bottlenecks in delivery flow within the Teams. The role will also embed governance and standardization across the Engineering function while partnering with other Business and Technology Leaders to evolve the Engineering practice, including adherence to standards and best practices, implementation of DevOps methodologies, and maintenance of code quality standards.

Your Daily Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of complex cross-team engineering initiatives, identifying and proposing solutions to enhance workflow.
- Continuously assess the current state of the Software Engineering organization, identifying opportunities for improvement and aligning the Software Engineering roadmap with the Enterprise Architecture vision and organizational initiatives.
- Support People Managers and Team Members in establishing and tracking Team and Individual Goals, action plans, and outcomes using SMART metrics and feedback mechanisms.
- Align Team expectations with business partners and internal entities, such as IT Operations and IT Security.
- Facilitate effective collaboration, deployment planning, decision-making, and issue resolution among managers and Team members.
- Provide leadership and coaching to cultivate High-Performing Teams within the oneaviso culture.
- Offer technical feedback to Teams to ensure adherence to documented software, architectural, and security corporate standards in Team governance.
- Organize and conduct presentations during multi-Team alignment planning sessions.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of coaching activities, adjusting approaches as necessary.
- Track flow metrics and provide recommendations for improvement through Team reporting and analytics.
Qualifications:
Your Experience and Skills:
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technical Diploma, or relevant software development experience.
- Certification in Product Management, Organizational Change and Leadership, Agile-related methodologies, or a similar professional certification.
- Previous experience as a high-performing Software Engineering or Technical Product Manager leading software delivery in a fast-paced environment (8-10 years).
- Strong understanding of software development and code management best practices (Trunk-based delivery, Feature Flags, etc.), secure coding principles, and DevSecOps practices.
- Experience with GitHub Co-pilot, Cloud Development (Azure), Microservices API architecture (Spring Boot, .NET Core), and DevOps concepts such as Container technologies (Docker).
- Familiarity with IT operational processes (i.e., ITIL, IT security governance processes - NIST, etc.) is an asset.
- Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills for both technical and business audiences.
- Fluent communication skills in English are required; bilingual skills in French are an asset.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Exceptional teaching and training skills, with the ability to impart knowledge, skills, and best practices.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, plan, document, schedule, and meet deadlines.
- A high degree of Emotional Intelligence, including listening, questioning, trust-building, coaching, and empathy skills.

Salary:
This position is associated with an expected salary range of $125,000 - $150,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are determined based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
