Position Overview:

We are seeking a qualified Speech Language Pathologist II to contribute to our innovative Calgary Rural Allied Health teams. This role encompasses a dual focus on both adult and pediatric populations, operating under the guidance of experienced Allied Health Managers. The successful candidate will be adept in pediatric rehabilitation, while also possessing knowledge in adult (sub) acute care services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify functional needs.
  • Implement direct interventions and provide consultation services.
  • Engage in capacity building and educational initiatives.
  • Manage adult dysphagia cases effectively.
  • Utilize speech-language therapy techniques tailored for pediatric clients in rural settings.
  • Collaborate closely with existing healthcare teams to ensure integrated rehabilitation services.
  • Participate in quality improvement and program development activities.

Clinical Practice:

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will deliver clinical services both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. Your role will involve:

  • Providing prevention and health promotion strategies.
  • Identifying, assessing, and managing cases effectively.
  • Coordinating rehabilitation services in partnership with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Supervising students and offering clinical guidance to colleagues.

Your expertise will be crucial in driving ongoing quality improvement, enhancing service integration, and contributing to program development initiatives.

Work Arrangement: Eligible for hybrid work within Alberta

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Active or eligible registration with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).
  • Proven knowledge of pediatric speech-language therapy and experience with adult dysphagia.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
