About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Tile Setter to join our team at SKY CONTRACTING INC. as a key member of our construction team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Surface Preparation: Prepare, measure and mark surfaces to be covered with tiles, ensuring accurate and precise measurements.
  • Mortar and Adhesive Application: Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowels, guaranteeing a strong and durable bond.
  • Plan Development: Prepare rough plans and sketches to visualize and communicate tile layouts and designs.
  • Tile Installation: Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to the base, ensuring a level and secure fit.
  • Tile Alignment: Align and straighten tiles to achieve a visually appealing and professional finish.
  • Estimation and Quotation: Estimate costs and materials required for tile installations, and prepare quotations for clients.
  • Tile Cutting and Fitting: Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools, minimizing waste and ensuring a seamless finish.
  • Grouting and Cleaning: Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout, maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment.
  • Tile Replacement: Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles, restoring the original appearance and functionality of the installation.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise other workers on site, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Mosaic Tile Installation: Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs, requiring attention to detail and creativity.
  • Underbed and Anchor Installation: Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires and brackets, ensuring a secure and stable tile installation.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in the field.
  • Language: English.
  • Work Term: Permanent.
  • Hours: 40 hours per week.
