About the Opportunity

As a key member of the Nova Scotia Health Authority team, the Maintenance Worker plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our hospital facilities. Reporting to the Assistant Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring that all areas of the hospital are clean, safe, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain all areas of the hospital, including floors, walls, and surfaces
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and machinery
  • Restock and replenish cleaning supplies and materials
  • Assist with floor care, including scrubbing and waxing floors
  • Shampoo carpets and chairs as needed
  • Remove waste and recyclables from the hospital
  • Clean up chemical spills and other hazardous materials
  • Perform laundry tasks and room set-ups
  • Clean windows and apply salt to walkways during winter months
  • Clean isolation rooms and assist with flood and blood spill clean-ups
About You

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented individual who is able to work independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Grade 12/GED or equivalent work experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Preference will be given to applicants with cleaning and floor care experience
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours and Compensation
  • Casual relief positions available
  • $20.02 hourly rate
