ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are excited to present a remarkable opportunity for a Senior Assayer 3 to become a vital part of our Mill operations.
The Macassa Mine stands as a premier high-grade gold producer, with enhanced grades found at depth, serving as a crucial valuation factor for Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. Situated in a region with robust infrastructure, including a provincial highway and a railway system, the Macassa Mine has been operational since 2002. The discovery of the South Mine Complex has significantly boosted production levels over the last five years. The Macassa Mill, located conveniently near the mine, processes high-grade ore and currently has available capacity.
The Laboratory plays a critical role in processing Mine Production and Exploration samples for grade control, delivering essential information promptly to support key decision-making related to mining and geology activities, as well as reconciling samples entering and exiting the Mill Process. This role carries personal accountabilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate proficiency in Basic Mill Common Core & adherence to Mill Classification Guidelines.
- Maintain comprehensive records of sample receipt and analysis, including standards and reference materials.
- Accurately weigh, measure, document, and mix samples.
- Organize the workspace to ensure proper processing of samples from the mine, following established chain of custody procedures.
- Crush and pulverize ore samples to meet the required consistency (-10 mesh), in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify any maintenance needs.
- Ensure Quality Assurance (QA) responsibilities are met.
- Maintain cleanliness in work areas to uphold a safe and tidy working environment.
Prioritize tasks effectively while adhering to Standard Operating Procedures and ensuring safety at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Willingness and capacity to learn.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required for competency.
- On-the-job training will be provided, necessitating consistent commitment.
- Aptitude for prioritizing repetitive tasks to enhance efficiency.
