Job Title: Kindergarten and Primary Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic professional educator to join our team at Central Okanagan Public Schools (School District No. 23) in Kelowna, B.C.

Job Summary:

This is a Full and Part-Time temporary contract position, as well as a Teacher Teaching on Call position in elementary schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing a developmentally appropriate, early learning, play-based educational program consistent with the Ministry of Education Kindergarten Curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement a developmentally appropriate educational program for Kindergarten and Primary students
  • Have an understanding of the Primary Program: A Framework for Teaching and the BC Early Learning Framework
  • Have an understanding of developmental levels of 4, 5, 6 and 7 year old children
  • Work positively towards the fulfillment of the School and District goals
  • Participate in the implementation of the school level Collaborative Model of Support
  • Develop the School District Attributes for the 21st Century in all students
  • Use technology for planning, attendance monitoring, communication, classroom instruction and reporting purposes
  • Offer family-centered transition practices
Requirements:
  • British Columbia Professional Teaching Certificate
  • Minimum of two years of successful classroom teaching experience
  • Experience at the Kindergarten and/or Primary levels
  • Additional professional experience and/or post-secondary courses in early childhood education, early learning and early literacy
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative/team environment
  • Experience in providing inclusive learning opportunities that reflect the unique needs and interests of students
  • Training/experience in the use of Quality Assessment practices
  • Indigenous ancestry (as per Special Program with the BC Human Rights Tribunal)
What We Offer:

The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $57,972 to $106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
