Your Opportunity:

The Respiratory Therapist III - Quality and Safety Technical Lead plays a pivotal role in advancing professional practice for the Respiratory Therapy discipline, driving excellence in patient and family-centered healthcare. This position provides technical support, addresses equipment recalls, evaluates new equipment, recommends purchases, and introduces quality safety initiatives related to respiratory equipment. The QSTL supports Respiratory Therapy Managers by functioning as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with expert clinical and technical knowledge to provide education, assess practice needs, lead quality improvement initiatives, and support research and development.

Description:

As a Respiratory Therapist III - Clinical Practice Lead, you will be responsible for mentoring, promoting standards of practice, responding to clinical questions, and coordinating ongoing skill and student development within your team. You will collaborate with managers and supervisors in the provision and access to internal and external continuing education and professional development programs, including certifications and upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support and address equipment recalls
  • Evaluate new equipment and recommend purchases
  • Introduce quality safety initiatives related to respiratory equipment
  • Support Respiratory Therapy Managers in providing education and assessing practice needs
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and support research and development
Required Qualifications:
  • Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA)
  • Graduate of a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy
  • Current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta
  • Current BLS certification from the Heart and Stroke Foundation
  • Minimum three years of current adult acute and critical care experience as a Respiratory Therapist
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant Baccalaureate preparation
  • Experience in providing adult education
  • Previous educator background
  • CSRT registration
  • Previous experience in the development of evidence-based practice standards and quality assurance and quality control programs
