Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field inspections and reviews of municipal infrastructure projects, including sewer, watermain, road, and solid waste management projects.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, including workmanship, allowable materials, and tolerances.
  • Perform regular site audits to ensure public safety.
  • Field test and inspect materials and equipment.
  • Obtain and record as-constructed information.
  • Maintain sufficient data to determine periodic progress of the work.
  • Review Contractor's requests for payment as to progress, quantities of work completed, and materials delivered to site.
  • Perform some drafting and design work, dependent on the candidate's abilities.
Requirements
  • Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' field inspection experience.
  • Successfully completed the MEA/MECP Inspector's Course for the Construction of Sewers and Watermains.
  • Knowledge of standard engineering and construction principles, practices, and techniques, plus pertinent codes, regulations, and statutes.
  • Strong technical, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Working experience with MS Office, Windows, and CADD applications an asset.
  • Ideal candidate will have previous local experience in municipal construction.
  • Basic topographical surveying skills.
  • A vehicle and valid Ontario Driver's License - 'G' Class.
