Reporting to the Business Accounting Manager, this role offers valuable insights into new initiatives, contracts, and financial performance. The Senior Financial Analyst for Transportation and Supply Chain will be instrumental within the accounting team, necessitating the establishment of strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure business objectives are recognized and accurately recorded. The incumbent will scrutinize the data recorded by others, identifying anomalies and discrepancies to guarantee precise reporting and compliance with accounting standards and policies. Your analytical skills and technical knowledge are essential for success, alongside your ability to communicate effectively, collaborate, and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Act as the primary contact for new transportation and supply chain business initiatives.
- Ensure sound accounting policy decisions are made.
- Collaborate with other accounting teams to update models and reporting processes for proper execution.
- Oversee and refresh key financial models across all business units.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the Dealer contract as needed, seeking guidance when necessary and advising other accounting teams accordingly.
- Make informed decisions regarding capital versus operational expenditures.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all monthly and quarterly deliverables.
- Analyze functional results, variances year-over-year or against budget/forecast, and track progress on key projects.
- Research, analyze, and facilitate discussions on critical business and accounting matters as they develop.
- Identify and implement enhancements and efficiencies to complex models and processes while maintaining proper documentation.
- Ensure all key controls are monitored and executed effectively.
- Manage communications and relationships with business partners, accounting, FP&A, tax, and internal/external auditors.
- Participate in or lead various ad hoc projects as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in a medium to large company accounting department or accounting firm.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.
- CPA designation is required.
- Ability to provide accounting guidance on leases under IFRS 16 and asset capitalization to determine the appropriate treatment of financial transactions in accordance with IFRS.
- Expertise in IFRS and experience in researching and developing accounting position documents.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and strategic thinking abilities; capable of seeing the 'big picture' in a complex business environment.
- A natural curiosity to understand the rationale behind transactions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment responsive to changing business needs.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with internal and external audit processes.
- Working knowledge of PeopleSoft accounting system and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is advantageous.
- Broad understanding of the chart of accounts and internal controls is beneficial.
- Experience in delivering timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis.
