Join the RBC Capital Markets team as you support the Credit Transaction Management Trading group in the origination, structuring, execution, administration, and oversight of trading credit facilities for a diverse portfolio of clients. The CTM – Trading division is essential in achieving the objectives of Global Markets through the structuring, syndication, and management of trading credit tailored for a select customer base. In this role, you will oversee a portfolio of credit relationships within the Global Credit sector of RBC Capital Markets, taking charge of underwriting and seeking risk approvals to meet the trading credit and cash management requirements of significant corporate clients.

This position involves direct client interaction. You will nurture relationships with external clients and collaborate with sales and trading professionals within RBC Capital Markets, ensuring that all legal, regulatory, operational, and risk-related requirements are addressed promptly to meet client trading and overdraft needs, including necessary credit considerations. Additionally, you will be tasked with maintaining the credit quality of the trading credit portfolio, ensuring that all limit systems accurately reflect approvals, and assisting in the timely preparation of management information reports as needed.

**** Note: This position can be filled at either the Analyst or Associate level, based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.****

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare internal credit submissions promptly, including company, industry, and financial analysis and modeling, to support RBC Capital Markets' credit-intensive trading activities with large corporate clients. This may involve new credits, restructurings, extensions, documentation reviews, and establishing cash management lines.
  • Oversee the comprehensive client onboarding process for trading products, addressing risk, regulatory, legal, compliance, tax, and operational aspects to ensure readiness to trade within strict timelines.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a designated set of clients as well as sales and trading professionals within RBC.
  • Effectively manage your workload and prioritize competing demands to deliver RBC's offerings to clients in alignment with business and client needs.
  • Assess client trading strategies from a risk management perspective.
  • Ensure accurate limit data is maintained within RBC's credit systems.
  • Complete assigned projects and additional responsibilities efficiently to support business objectives.
  • Initiate and sustain communication with trading professionals, Group Risk Management, Market Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk, Trading Documentation, RBC Law Group, Compliance, and Operations.
  • Assist in negotiating supporting trading documentation (e.g., ISDA and GMRA) and conduct daily reviews of unauthorized overdrafts.
  • Prepare annual reviews for an assigned portfolio promptly and ensure the integrity of credit system data.
  • Participate in team deliverables concerning regulatory and audit requests.
  • Review and approve transactional requests in accordance with policy.
  • Complete ad-hoc projects and additional tasks (including presentations to key stakeholders) efficiently to support the team in meeting both planned and unplanned demands.
  • Develop expertise in various industries and trading products, policies, and guidelines, providing valuable insights to internal partners.

Qualifications for Success

Essential Requirements:

  • Self-motivated individual with a strong attention to detail and a keen interest in corporate finance and credit.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, meet tight deadlines, adapt to changing circumstances, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills, along with excellent written and presentation capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical abilities, including the capacity to critically evaluate financial statements and other client reports to draw sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships at all organizational levels.

For Analysts, the following is required:

  • Strong academic background, including a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering Mathematics, or other analytical fields.
  • Enrollment in the CFA program or a relevant professional designation is advantageous.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in corporate lending or corporate finance is preferred but not mandatory.

For Associates, additional requirements include:

  • 2-5 years of experience in a related field, encompassing corporate lending, finance, and/or risk management.
  • Strong credit and analytical capabilities, including the ability to critically assess financial statements and other client reports to recommend appropriate actions.
  • Prior banking experience with relationship management, structuring, and drafting credit proposals, as well as familiarity with credit processes, policies, and risk analysis is beneficial.
  • Completion or near completion of an MBA or CPA, CFA professional designation is a plus.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Basic understanding of trading products, including FX, swaps, and securities finance.
  • Familiarity with trading documentation.
  • Advanced data management skills, including proficiency with Excel; experience with Tableau is an additional asset.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage responsibilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capability to interpret, explain, and communicate insights and recommendations using strong verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to comprehend complex legal documents.
  • Capacity to work effectively within a team environment and engage with individuals at all levels within a large organization.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, perform well under pressure, and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • An MBA, professional designation (e.g., CA, CMA, CFA), or a post-graduate degree focused on finance, economics, or quantitative disciplines is advantageous.
