Key Responsibilities:

Assist adults with physical disabilities and seniors in their daily living activities. Our clients direct their own care and live independently. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with transfers, positioning, and turning
  • Support with dressing and undressing
  • Providing washing and bathing assistance
  • Toileting support, including bowel, bladder, and catheter care
  • Light housekeeping and laundry assistance
  • Meal preparation and assistance with eating
  • Implementing programs developed by occupational, physiotherapists, or speech therapists

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Certification as a Personal Support Worker or relevant experience preferred
  • Access to a vehicle, valid driver's license, and proof of insurance
  • Willingness to work shifts, including days and evenings
  • Commitment to working alternate weekends
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Police Check within the last 6 months
  • Completion of an employment medical and up-to-date immunizations

  • Provision of necessary PPE for all staff
  • Ongoing education and support regarding Infection Prevention and Control measures

  • Staff may work in client homes, which may involve exposure to second-hand smoke, pets, and household cleaners. GIL ensures that policies and procedures are up-to-date to maintain worker safety
  • Emergency vehicle safety kits and safe driving training are provided
  • A strong Joint Health and Safety Committee is in place to ensure your safety
