About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced 3rd Class Power Engineer to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for the safe and effective operation of our facilities, including the maintenance and project-related activities for heating, air conditioning, power, and water generation units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain ventilation and air conditioning systems to ensure a comfortable and healthy environment for our patients and staff.
  • Maintain logs and records relating to the safety and efficiency of plant mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with legislation and established standards.
  • Assist in the maintenance of buildings and equipment, ensuring that all facilities are well-maintained and meet the needs of our patients and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with our facilities team to ensure that all functions are completed in accordance with legislation, established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Exhibit sound professional judgment and initiative while working within the Mission, Vision, and Strategic Directions of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced 3rd Class Power Engineer who possesses the following qualifications and skills:

  • Certification as Shift Operator Third Class or eligibility for Inter-Provincial Third Class Power Engineer Certification of Qualification.
  • One to two years' experience in plant operations, with a strong understanding of applicable safety regulations, building codes, and CSA standards.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand, power, and industrial tools for measuring, cutting, welding, and assembling.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, with French preferred.
