A role as a Portfolio Manager within the Real Estate Finance Group at National Bank of Canada entails serving as a specialist in credit evaluation and structuring real estate financing solutions. This position enables you to make a significant contribution to our organization through your analytical expertise, real estate experience, and financial acumen.
Your Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with account managers to oversee the intricate components of their portfolios, including file analysis, preparation of financing proposals, and negotiation of offer letters.
- Engage in negotiations regarding financing conditions with the credit department.
- Occasionally negotiate financing terms with clients and prospective clients.
- Support the execution, renewal, and assessment of complex files alongside account managers.
- Evaluate expert documentation from cost and environmental consultants, legal advisors, and SCHL contacts.
- Review prerequisites prior to fund disbursements.
- Ensure the maintenance of portfolio quality.
- Identify risks associated with the sector's operations.
Your Team:
The Real Estate Finance group operates under the Commercial and Private Banking 1859 sector. The mission of the group is to assist key players in the real estate sector with their interim construction financing needs as well as the long-term financing of premium assets. The team is highly driven and focused on market expansion in Western Canada.
You will be part of a team comprising 12 colleagues and will report to the Senior Manager of the Portfolio Management Team. Our team is distinguished by its energy, collaborative spirit, and camaraderie.
Essential Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 7 years of pertinent experience, or a master's degree in a related discipline with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in real estate financing.
- Relevant background in commercial credit.
- Experience in customer service and negotiation.
- Business development experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with products and services for businesses.
