The District of North Vancouver is seeking a skilled Truck Driver - Waste Management Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Solid Waste Department, you will be responsible for operating a tandem axle rear load garbage packer, collecting garbage and yard trimmings/organics, and performing routine equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a tandem axle rear load garbage packer safely and efficiently
- Collect garbage and yard trimmings/organics, and perform routine equipment maintenance
- Enforce regulations and educate residents on proper waste disposal practices
- Perform pre and post trip inspections, including washing the truck
- Complete daily work records and provide information to the public
- Valid Class 3 BC Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement
- Completion of Grade 10, supplemented by truck driving experience
- Ability to operate auxiliary equipment safely and efficiently
- Physical ability and agility to perform swamping tasks
- Skills to operate the truck and have a mechanical aptitude
- Competitive hourly rate
- 12% in lieu of all benefits, increasing to 16% after 1600 hours of work
