About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a full-time physiatrist to join their collaborative team at Harbourview Hospital in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team, including social work, dietetics, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and orthotics.

The hospital provides inpatient and outpatient care, with a focus on rehabilitation and restorative care. The physiatrist will work in a 28-bed Level II long-term care unit and a rehabilitation unit that services up to 21 patients.

Responsibilities
  • Work a full scope of practice as a physiatrist
  • Provide inpatient care and consult with other medical professionals
  • Act as a patient advocate and provide support to patients and families
Qualifications
  • Membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Eligibility for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
Work Environment

Harbourview Hospital is a long-term care and rehabilitation care facility located in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. The hospital is divided into two specific areas: a 28-bed Level II long-term care unit and a rehabilitation and restorative care unit that services up to 21 patients.

The hospital provides a range of services, including audiology, clinical dietetics, foot clinics, occupational therapy, orthotics, palliative care, physiotherapy, primary health care, public health services, recreation services, and speech language pathology.
