Custodial Worker Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodial Worker to join our team at the Near North District School Board. As a Custodial Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of facilities, including classrooms, hallways, and common areas
  • Perform basic building maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and filters
  • Conduct grounds maintenance, including grass cutting and snow shoveling
  • Remove waste and recyclables
  • Control dust and maintain a clean and healthy environment
  • Clean glass and mirrors
  • Sweep, mop, and scrub floors
  • Vacuum and maintain floors
  • Strip and refinish floors as needed
  • Replenish and maintain an inventory of custodial supplies
  • Sterilize and sanitize fixtures and surfaces

Requirements:

  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in building and grounds maintenance or custodial services is an asset

Working Conditions:

Shifts vary between 6:30 AM to 11:30 PM and by site. Hours are on a call-out basis and are not guaranteed.

Compensation:

$19.06/hour (inclusive of 4% vacation pay and 4% statutory holiday pay)
