Overview

The Role

The New Brunswick Community College Student Union (NBCCSU) is in search of a Student Life Assistant for the Moncton and Saint John campuses.

Employment Type: Part-time (hours vary weekly)

Compensation: $20.00 per hour

Locations: Saint John and Moncton

Work hours may fluctuate based on activities, including potential evening and weekend commitments.

Key Responsibilities

The Student Life Assistant, under the guidance of the Local Student Life Officer and the NBCCSU General Manager, will collaborate with the Student Life Officer (SLO) and local NBCCSU to comprehensively identify and address student needs both on and off campus.

In this position, you will:

Support the election process during the Spring and Fall. Offer guidance, training, and mentorship to local NBCCSU executives and class representatives. Assist Student Union members in organizing and executing campus activities. Aid the Local Student Life Officer in fulfilling their duties. Manage and respond to inquiries regarding the Student Emergency Food Cupboard. Maintain dedicated office hours.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High School diploma along with a post-secondary diploma or degree, preferably in administration, communications, marketing, or a related field. Willingness to undergo first aid training, mental health first aid, and ASSIST certification. A valid Criminal Record Check.

Professional Skills:

Proficient in English. Excellent oral and written communication abilities. Detail-oriented with a strong capacity to meet deadlines. Initiative-driven with the ability to complete assigned tasks. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Strong time-management capabilities. Confidence in initiating tasks and projects. Effective communication skills through technology and social media. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-performance teams. Demonstrated leadership and public speaking skills.

Preferred Assets:

Knowledge of Quickbooks. Experience in promotional or marketing roles. Previous work experience in a post-secondary educational environment.
