The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Woodland Wellness Centre is seeking a skilled professional to fill a permanent full-time position in the Prevention & Recovery Department.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will provide trauma-focused counseling and therapy services to children, youth, and adults who have experienced emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, as well as those who have witnessed violence.
Key Responsibilities
- Counsel survivors of trauma and abuse, including residential school survivors and their families
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on a holistic approach, evaluating treatment progress and outcomes
- Provide support and therapy groups for children, youth, and non-offending caregivers
- Evaluate the needs of children and families, providing referrals and information as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely case notes and records of client contacts
- Prepare accurate reports and work closely with multidisciplinary team members to provide support for children, youth, and families
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years of clinical experience in child and youth counseling services
- Registration and good standing with a licensed Professional Association
- Experience working with First Nations people and communities
- Extensive training and experience in Critical Incident Stress debriefing (CISD) and processing traumatic experiences
- Knowledge of various therapeutic and counseling modalities, including traditional and contemporary approaches
- Understanding of rural and remote communities and their challenges and barriers
