Job Title: Human Factors Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Human Factors Specialist to join our team at Nuclear Fuel Services. As a Human Factors Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the execution of operating experience reviews, functional requirements analysis, task analysis, human error analysis, and making human factors design recommendations. You will also be involved in assessing the required level of Human Factors Engineering involvement based on project scope and applying your knowledge of hardware and software controls, displays, annunciations, and evaluations of interactions between the Human System Interface and the User(s).

Responsibilities:

  • Support the execution of operating experience reviews and functional requirements analysis.
  • Conduct task analysis and human error analysis to identify potential human factors issues.
  • Make human factors design recommendations to ensure compliance with CNSC requirements, CSA N Human factors in design for nuclear power plants, and the NUREG Human Factors Engineering Program Review Model.
  • Assess the required level of Human Factors Engineering involvement based on project scope.
  • Apply your knowledge of hardware and software controls, displays, annunciations, and evaluations of interactions between the Human System Interface and the User(s).

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Human Factors Engineering, Engineering Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related science with a focus on Human Factors coursework.
  • Experience level: 5+ years, Qualified Human Factors Specialist.
  • P.Eng. or eligibility to obtain in near future.
  • Demonstrable experience in Human Factors Design, in regulated, high consequence industries such as Nuclear, Aerospace, Defense, Oil and Gas, and Medical.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively interface with project team members, vendors, and customers to ensure scope and requirements of the project are understood, and to ensure the project is executed per the project schedule and budget.
