Activity Worker/Bus Driver

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as an Activity Worker/Bus Driver at Fellburn Care Centre in Burnaby, BC. As a key member of our Residential Care Services team, you will be responsible for providing input into program activities and performing a variety of duties to assist with the social/recreational program.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out individual and group activities such as table games, current events, sports activities, music, special events, and community outings, and organize and maintain program activity areas.
- Provide input and feedback with respect to program activities at regular planning meetings, including resident participation during activities.
- Accompany residents and/or transport one or more passengers by operating a vehicle and/or bus with a seating capacity between 11 and 25 passengers, including the driver, on community outings as required.
- Check residents have appropriate clothing/equipment for activities, confirm and coordinate proposed activity with nursing/medical staff, and assist in embarking and disembarking passengers from the bus.
- Participate in team conferences, staff meetings, in-service education, and provide input to resident care conferences.
- Organize materials required for programs, maintain inventory of equipment, tools, and materials, and report malfunctioning equipment and supply needs to the Recreation Therapist.
- Access resident comfort funds for outings and shopping, complete documentation relating to use of resident monies, and provide direction to volunteers during activity programs and demonstrate related techniques as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education, Training & Experience:
Grade 12, completion of recognized recreational courses such as handicrafts, plus two (2) years' recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid Class IV Driver's License (unrestricted) and/or Class III Driver's License with air brake endorsement as required per vehicle(s).
Fellburn Care Centre - Food Safe Certification 1
