About the Role

Sprout Social is seeking an experienced Data Science Manager to lead its AI team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for developing and deploying new generative AI product features, partnering with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver new capabilities to our customers, and shaping our long-term roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of data scientists and software engineers responsible for the end-to-end development and deployment of new generative AI product features.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers from other teams to deliver new capabilities to our customers and define opportunities for applying data science to our products.
  • Act as a player-coach, simultaneously working to deliver new data products while overseeing and guiding the work of data scientists and engineers, helping direct and support their professional development.
  • Contribute to shaping our long-term roadmap.
  • Empower team growth by upholding our standards and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Stay current with the latest AI and ML research, identifying opportunities to integrate innovative solutions into Sprout's AI capabilities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in the Data Science/AI/ML space.
  • 2+ years as a manager of data science and/or engineering team and working in cross-functional teams to deploy production-level data products.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and scaling high-performance teams through hiring and coaching of data scientists and engineers.
  • Deep proficiency of the end-to-end ML lifecycle and applying that to a broad range of ML problem spaces.
  • Proficient with model services, deployment technologies, ML-Ops practices, and cloud services (e.g., GCP, AWS, and Azure).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with generative AI and working in a broad range of ML problem spaces, including classification, regression, time-series, recommendation systems, anomaly detection, and/or natural language processing.
  • Experience leveraging the Python data science stack for model development and deployment.
  • Experience partnering with product and design to articulate and execute an AI roadmap.
  • Familiar with software engineering best practices and managing software engineers.
