About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Installer to join our team at Onex Construction. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for installing drywall sheets, applying successive coats of compound, and sanding seams and joints to ensure a smooth finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements
  • Apply, level, and smooth coats of plaster to create a seamless finish
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for installation
  • Cure freshly plastered surfaces to ensure durability
  • Install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners and fabricate suspended metal ceiling grids
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife
  • Finish corners and angles, and create decorative designs in the finish coat as required
  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets to ensure a precise fit
  • Mix plaster ingredients to the desired consistency and mould ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists, and smooth out excess compound
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in the trade
  • Ability to work at heights, in dusty and noisy environments
  • 3-4 people supervision
  • Permanent employment with 35 to 40 hours per week
  • English language proficiency
